BlaST

BlaST is a new network to support Black- and Brown-led social traders across Liverpool City Region.

BlaST is designed to recognise the impact and contribution of socially-trading organisations (STOs), led by those with Black lived experience and expertise. The network, which already has more than 20 organisations as members, promotes the work and communicates the positive social or environmental impact that BlaST-led businesses have on their local communities.

The network developed from an earlier piece of work, called Black Social Traders, which raised the profile of socially-trading organisations from Black and diverse ethnic backgrounds in Liverpool City Region. BlaST was conceived by and is supported by social investment CIC Kindred, as part of its mission to increase social impact and help accelerate change to address inequalities. As a result, 25% of STO investment from Kindred so far has been offered to STOs led by entrepreneurs from Black and other diverse ethnic backgrounds.
